Luke's Pathway to Progress

Luke, a student at Grundy County High School, was referred to #CISTN after a truancy meeting revealed he had 13 tardies in just the first quarter. But his story was more than just a number on a report.

After program manager Sara Brown met with Luke and his guardian, they uncovered the reason behind his late arrivals. The family had just one vehicle, and Luke’s morning routine depended on his older brother’s overnight work schedule. If he stayed behind, he often missed the bus. If he waited to be picked up, he arrived late.

Working together, they created a plan that worked for everyone. And while there were a few bumps early on, the results speak for themselves: Luke cut his tardies from 13 to just 3.

Sara also helped make sure he turned in excuses for any absences working with him and his family so that they felt supported throughout the process.

“He lit up with pride coming in on time—not rushed, just ready to start the day,” Sara shared.
