What is your favorite thing about working at Communities In Schools?
As a site coordinator, my role is constantly evolving based on the needs of my school and my scholars. This has allowed me to tailor my position to my individual strengths and have a level of flexibility that allows me to be the best advocate that I can be for my scholars. In this position, I am also able to build one-on-one, trusting relationships with children who may not have experienced a similar relationship in their lives.
What advice do you have for kids who are struggling in school?
Tell someone! There are caring adults all around you. Whether they are your teachers, counselors, administrators, or CIS Site Coordinators, the school staff members goal is to help you succeed. We are not mind readers, and sometimes, we need you to partner with us and tell us how you are feeling.
What would you most like to tell yourself at age 13?
Be confident – find validation in yourself rather than the opinions/comments of others! Although you are young, you are capable of so much.
Tell us something that might surprise us about you.
I love scary movies.
If you could do another job for just one day, what would it be?
I am curious how I would do as a television host for something on the Travel Channel – traveling around the world trying the food and meeting the locals doesn’t sound like a bad life!
What three traits define you?
Thoughtful, resourceful and loquacious.
What would you like to be your greatest accomplishment?
Have perfect attendance at Humes Preparatory Academy!!!
What is your favorite thing to do?
What is one thing you couldn't live without?
My Sonicare toothbrush.
Where is your favorite place to be?
I went to Galway, Ireland in college, and I would love to go back!
