I don’t have much food at home, so every Friday my CIS coordinator gives me some. She even gives me extra, so my sister eats too! She encourages me to come to school and texts me to see if I’m okay. I know I can talk to her if I’m having a bad day.

CIS Model

CIS uses an evidenced-based model that allows staff to design and provide services that best fit the needs of each individual school.  The model includes:

  • A full-time, school-based site coordinator

  • Annual needs assessment

  • Strategic support plan

  • School-wide services for all students

  • Case management services for 10% of the student body

  • Community partners

With this model, our staff focus on providing five basic essentials to help students be successful:

A one-on-one relationship with a caring adult

A marketable skill to use upon graduation

A safe place to learn and grow

A chance to give back to peers and the community

A healthy start and a healthy future
